I have a pile of old Christmas Cards on my table, and a bag of new ones I just picked up at 90% off at Target.  I love a craft challenge—what shall I make with these for my Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes?

Some Ideas:

  • Cut off the front of the used card and write a Note on the back to the child receiving your box.
  • Make a Sewing Card for the 2-4 age group.  Using a paper punch, punch holes evenly all around the edges.  In one hole tie on a nice long length of wool.  At the other end of the wool, make a “needle” –  just a pointy edge — by wrapping some tape around it.  Place in a baggie to keep together.
  • Cut in large pieces to make a Puzzle.  Also place in baggie.  Perhaps you could photocopy the picture first and tape that to the outside.

Here is a Roundup of ideas we’ve posted in the past:

Time to take that pile of cards and check out the list of crafts instructions!

I saw a cute idea, kind of on the flipbook theme…. cut the sentiments from inside the card (use decorative scissors) they don’t have to all be the same size. Punch a hole in the top left corner then tie several together with a ribbon or piece of yarn. This can be a little inspiration book. Doesn’t have to be a phrase, can just be words, like Joy, Peace, Christ etc….
If you want the cards to all be the same size, just glue them onto precut cards, decorate around the sentiment etc.

Make hearts, or circles from the front of the cards, then overlap them on a 10x 15″ clear vinyl sticky layer, in an artistic arrangement. Cover the top with the same, and you will have either a placemat, or a straight surface they can use as a “table-top” for their writing, or coloring.
