I just stopped into one Target today because I figured the dollar spot would be 50% off. And, it was.
Yellow dot items are 50% off, so just $0.50 each. It seems like every Target carries different items in their dollar spot, but I saw lots of Hello Kitty items at mine. (pens, stickers, notepads, coloring books, tote bags, etc).
They also had collapsible water bottles for $1.50 each after discount. I saw LED flashlights in the dollar spot for $1 each. The flashlights are not on sale yet, but they might be in the future. Batteries were not included.
Also, in the kid’s section, there was thermal underwear sets (pants and shirts) for just $5. I buy these for my own children to use as jammies, but it would be a wonderful addition to a shoe box as well.
And, finally, I saw these cute plastic shoe boxes for $2.99. Heart and stripe patterns available. That’s more than I would typically pay for a shoe box, but they sure are adorable!

Just a little warning – I bought 10 of these flashlights for OCC shoeboxes and half did not work.
My son-in-law bought these flashlights last year and we had the same experience — more than half didn’t work; we were very disappointed.
I bought 2 or 3 of those plastic boxes last year because I thought they would be cute for the girls. However I was very disappointed in them. When we packed the boxes the lids did not want to stay tight.
I saw something here on FB last night regarding Targets Dollar spot. If a price number ends in 8 the item will be marked down again. If it ends in 4 that is the lowest that item will go.
Rilla, thank you for that info. The dollar spot was 70% off today. got a bunch of things. My store had the a smaller collapsable bottle for $1…so $.30 today. I got a ton of these…how perfect they are for OCC boxes.
