I thought I’d do a round up of my favorite free coloring books.  These are great to order for your shoeboxes!

Milk Matters: You can order 1 in English, 25 in Spanish

You Can Be  A Nurse: I don’t think there’s a limit on these.

FEMA Fire Safety Sesame Street Coloring Books: You have to register first, but it only takes 30 seconds.

Save Our Species Coloring Book, Create Less Waste, and Mission Sunwise Books from EPA:  Go to this search form and then type in “coloring book”  Find the 3 coloring books I listed on the resulting list and then check the box next to the items you want (they must have the USPS Eagle logo next to them in order to get by mail.)  After you’ve selected the books you want, click on the “add to your collection” button.  You’ll be taken to another page where you’ll have to select your books again, then click on show order form.  A little complicated, but it goes quickly.

  2. Mindy says:

Thank you for this information! There is a limit on the nursing coloring books of 50 English and 50 Spanish.

  3. Gina H. says:

    Thank you! Love those freebies!

  4. Sally says:

the nursing coloring books have a limit of 50. I ordered 50 Spanish ones and 50 English ones.

  5. Mark says:

I ordered 10 of the nursing ones last year and they never arrived. It’s worth a shot, though.

Don’t forget, you can also make your own coloring books, or include coloring pages printed free from online.

    • Jessica says:

Really? I’m so surprised. I order these every year and they always come. Try again!

      • Mark says:

Not sure why. As I recall, they ask questions like what organization the coloring books are for. I used our church as the organization. Don’t know if that made any difference.

The half-size coloring books we made turned out so well, though, that we’ll probably repeat those.

  6. Dagmar says:

Thank you. I just ordered 4 different coloring books I will add to the ones I bought on clearance after xmas. I am a nurse, so I especially liked that one. Thank you for the tip.11:)

    • Mark says:

If you include a letter in the box, you might want to mention that you are a nurse. The coloring book would have that much more meaning for the child who gets it. :)

Has anyone tried ordering more than one copy of the coloring books on the EPA website? I notice that you have to write up an explanation of why you need the quantity that you want. Do you think they would find it a valid reason to use them for OCC? It’s not like you’re going to use them for educational purposes to kids in your community, so maybe it’s not good to order more than one of each?

    • Mark says:

I would be honest about it, no matter what. But they may not know what OCC is, so you might just explain that your church/organization is assembling gifts to give (free of charge) to needy kids in the US and abroad and who is doing the sending – something like that. You can let them make the call about whether giving the coloring books to kids in other countries is an OK use for them. It’s possible they just want to make sure you’re not ordering the books to resell them.

    • Dagmar says:

i wrote what i was using them for, and received them without a problem . nice coloring books. thank you for posting this. :)

  8. Lori says:

The FEMA website will only allow me to order 1 english and 1 spanish fire safety sesame street coloring books, is that right? When I registered I checked the no affiliation box is that right?

  9. Sabrina says:

Milk Matters CB – still available

You Can Be A Nurse – still available. order magnets, too!

Sesame Street CB – one per 365 days per address. preschools can order in larger quantities.

Save Our Species, etc -quantity of one unless you ask for more and explain the reason such as for 5-9 year old children.

another option for CB – if your grocery store such as Publix has free CB for the children – ask your children/grandchildren to sacrifice their copy and put it in a shoe box rahter than keep it to color.

another option – ask families to print coloring pages and include them in the shoe boxes. know of a printer who would make copies for low or no cost?

it’s not too early to beging praying and packing shoe boxes for national collection week 2013!

The only ones I can get now are the nursing ones. Boo Hoo!
